Alcon Total30 Contact Lens Box

Are you looking for a monthly contact lens with brand new, innovative technology? Are you interested in a contact that stays moist for an entire month? If so, then you are probably looking for Aclon's brand new Total30 monthly contact lens. Total30 hit the market in September 2021 and is full of a lot of exciting new technology.

Celligent Design that Mimics Your Eyes

One of the coolest innovations in Total30 is the Celligent design. The surface of your eye is made up of special cells that create a gel like tecture. The surface of Total30 is designed to mimic those special cells. Since the lens surface is design just like your corneal cells, it actually pushes away external items like lipids and bacteria. This keeps your contacts healthy all month long!

Water Gradient Tech Keeps Total30 Moist

Alcon introduced the Water Gradient technology in their Dailies Total1 product. This is a unique lens design that helps pull water into the edges of the contact lens, ensuring the lens stays moist all day long. In the new Total30, Alcon has improved the Water Gradient technology so it lasts all month long.

According to a study that Alcon conducted, their water gradient tech keeps the Total30 lenses moist for over 2 times as long as other monthly lenses.

What is the Difference between Total30 and Dailies Total1?

If you are familiar with Alcon's Dailies Total1, you may know that product also features the Water Gradient technology. Although both of these contacts contain that same technology and have similar names, they're actually quite different.

To start, they are made of completely different materials. Total1 is made of delefilcon and Total30 is made of lehfilcon. Total1 is designed to only last one day of wear and cannot be reused. Total30 is designed to keep moisture for an entire month. Despite the similarities, these two contact lenses are not interchangable.

Parameters

For now, Total30 only comes in one base curve (8.4) and one diameter (14.2). Alcon may choose to make this product available in more base curves or diameters in the future.

Total30 has sphere powers from -12.00 all the way to +8.00. That range should cover most people wearing spherical contact lenses.

Does Total30 come in Toric for Astigmatism?

Yes, Total30 for Astigmatism was launched in December 2022. It has all the same great technology as the regular Total30, but it is designed for astigmatism. The available astigmatism options are pretty broad, so it should cover most people. Since it is a new product, expect shipments for this astigmatism lens to take a little bit longer. Right now, it is selling for $74.99 per box.

Does Total30 come in Multifocal for Presbyopia?

Yes, Total30 is launching a Multifocal version on October 1st, 2023. It will be available at doctors nationwide, as well as at online retailers. The recommend retail price for doctors is $115 per box, but we will sell it for $94.99 per box!

Pricing

Total30 is a brand new contact lens, so it is a little bit pricier than older contact lenses on the market. However, with the new technology in this lens that price difference is worth it! Most doctors are selling Total30 for around $65-$75 for a 6-pack. Online, you can get a 6-pack of Total30 for only $58.98 plus free shipping!

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High oxygen permeability keeps your eyes healthy
  • Cutting edge material that mimics your corneal cell
  • Affordable price for a new monthly contact lens

Cons

  • The new technology doesn't work well for everyone
  • Not a daily disposable

Bottom Line

At the end of the day, contact lenses are all about comfort. If you are looking for a monthly contact lens that beats every competitor on comfort, then Total30 is probably the lens for you. Be sure to ask your eye doctor if they have fitting kits for this new contact so you can try it for yourself.

I’ve used Acuvue for a couple of decades, using them for a full month instead of 2 weeks. My optometrist excitedly switched me to Total30 this time, with promises that it’s the wettest lens ever. I will say that they are incredibly easy to insert and remove; Acuvue would invert on me repeatedly every single morning, which was infuriating. However, after about the 10th day of wear, blur is a major issue. This starts out as an afternoon problem, but soon becomes an all-day problem. I’ve found that if I put a drop in my eye, then scrub the contact with solution (which is not normally needed these days), then put the contact on my finger, add 2-3 drops to it, THEN put it in my eye, THEN add another drop, it helps. I have started needing to keep eye drops at my desk and in my car as well, when I didn’t before. I’ve used 3 drops in the last hour and the blur has not improved. This was never an issue with Acuvue. I’ve been trying to decide what to do financially—I have a year’s supply on hand and of course it went through insurance. I even waited a week or so to order in case I had an allergic reaction (which has happened before with other brands). Very frustrating.

I have been using contacts for nearly 15 years and these are the worst I have ever experienced. I have never had an issue with dry eyes and I have had to purchase eye drops for home, office, car, so that I always have them accessible just to be able to see. Worse, the rebate that enticed me to purchase a full year supply was a bait and switch. They never sent me the gift card and now refuse to fulfill their obligation despite my submitting for and being approved for the rebate. So not only am I stuck with terrible contacts for a year, I also overpaid for them. Might cut my losses and just go back to my old contacts immediately. These belong in the trash.

Be careful when trying these from your optometrist. Don’t commit to buying before full 30 days. These are the worst contacts I’ve ever worn but I committed to buying 9 months worth because the first week felt fine / I attributed the discomfort with user error. Nope these contact lenses just suck terribly. Needs to be reworked!

Very bad experience with these contact lenses. foggy and unstable vision throughout the day, super blurry and uncomfortable. I switched back to Precision 1.

Alcon contacts are okay and occasionally more comfortable, but their pricing is a true ripoff as they oversell a year prescription, and most people’s vision changes before you use them all. Plus the “rebate” cards always have errors and expire before you’re able to use them. I’ve tried the physical card and online but always have issues with the transactions then the card always expires making the offer not worth it. It’s a true Scam I’ve learned after about three tries and loss of money.

I love my TOTAL 30 contact lenses. They are very comfortable to wear and durable. I’ve had no issues with them tearing or being difficult to remove. I’ve been wearing contact for over 30 years and TOTAL 30 are totally right.

In my opinion these contacts are a swing and a miss. Uncomfortable from the moment I put them in until I take them out. Vision varies in blurryness the whole time. Worst contacts ever. Peripheral vision is warped like looking through water. I will be returning them. Absolutely unwearable.

I’ve been wearing contacts for about 10 years now. I thought I would try these from my doctors recommendation. Boy was that a mistake and an even bigger mistake that I bought a year supply. Just called my doctor to change back after only 3 months. I work with computers all day and they terribly dry my eyes out even with the protection of 0 prescription blue light glasses. I highly do not recommend.

I have worn contacts for roughly 20 years, and I have NEVER had issues. These are the absolute worst. My eyes feel like there is sand in them afyer 6 hours of wear, and this continues AFTER I take them out. I have issues getting them out of my eyes sometimes as well. I am SO RELIEVED to read that I’m not the only one but I’m angry that this product is still being sold with all of the negative reviews. I truly hope that the mass quantity of negative reviews reaches others before buying these.

One tip is with any Alcon lense, soak it in optifree for 24 hours before using, for best clarity.

Yesterday I was wearing Air optix, thinking I need to get these out of my eyes, all day. They put pressure on my eyes, for what ever reason.

Total 30 much more comfy, to where Im not thinking, I need to get these out of my eyes.

I have presicion 1 dailes, Air Optix and Total 30’s.
Precison 1 is the most comfortable, that I can wear all day forgetting they are in.
Airoptix function excellent, clarity wise, but constantly think id like to get the out of my eyes, Man I’d like to get the out of my eyes, a few hours okay, but all day, it just too much remembering how I’d like to get these out of my eyes. They seem to put pressure on my eyes, but clarity is top notch.

Now Total 30’s, the first day, I tried to get all the oem solution off, with optifree. But I wor them all day, I found vision clarity varied(not good), like a wave of water, under the lense at times. So I’ll have to retry after a full night soaking with optifree moist.

Even my precision 1’s benefit clarity with optifree soaking, But the Total 30’s really stood out, with varing clarity , it was weird.
But one more shot after full soaking over night. They are easier on my eyes than Airoptix, if have to wear all day.
But neither beat precison 1 for all day comfort.

I am so happy to see that I am not the only one who absolutely hates these lenses. I’ve been wearing contacts for 20 years and I cannot stress how awful and dry these are and I cannot believe they haven’t been removed from shelves as a 30 day wear.
My optometrist recommended them and they were ok after a week trial so I bought a 2 year supply & what a mistake that was. After about 10 days they are so uncomfortable and blurry that I went through all 24 pair in less than a year. I’ve never had any issues with contacts before & honestly have never noticed a difference between the different lenses I’ve tried, until now. I highly recommend you avoid them.

I can’t wait to be done with these contacts. By the end of the day I can’t wait to take them out because they’re so dry, and by the end of the month they’re almost unbearable. I lead a busy, active lifestyle and they just don’t hold up. Especially when I go camping, it doesn’t matter how much I wash my hands, they still pick up every last speck of dirt or dust and are painful to try to put in. Not to mention, the number of times they’ve literally fallen out of my eyes because of how fast they get so dry. I felt very strong armed by my optometrist to get these, and I’m pretty sure the office was under some promotional contract because he didn’t really give me any space to say I wanted something else. Not a fan!

My eye doctor suggested I try Total30 as the “next generation of lenses” by the same company as Air Optix, which I had been wearing. Sure, why not? Big mistake. I bought a 6 month supply and it was basically torture to get through them. When I was on the last pair, I had my doctor change my prescription back to Air Optix. Total30 made my eyes so dry and uncomfortable in the afternoons and evenings. I’d take them out early and wear glasses instead all evening just for some relief. Also, they are extremely thin and easy to tear. I tore 3 Total30 lenses in less than 6 months. Oh, and they’re much more expensive than Air Optix. But you’re likely to tear them and need to buy extras if these high-price, fragile, uncomfortable lenses. I’m so glad I only bought one box each of Total30 and not any more. Never again.

I’ve tried them all – Biofinity, Biofinity Energys (0 difference between the two), Avaira Vitality (gives me headaches from time to time), Miru 1 month and dailies, B&L Ultra, Air Optix night and day aqua, Acuvue Oasys and eventually these TOTAL30 by Alcon.

At first when you put them in they’re really comfortable, you can’t feel them AT ALL they’re really as advertised – best feeling on the eye out of all on the market, but for me the vision isn’t stable throughout the day and they do get extremely dry suddenly, out of nowhere. I don’t know why some people can’t get them out though, they’re the same as any other lens in that regard. As with all lenses, maybe do not try to take them out after a hot bath, it’s impossible :D

For me personally, the best ones currently are B&L Ultra, they do get dry also, tend to tear after long physical activity (probably I need to lubricate them more) but the vision is stable and clear, no headaches or any other discomfort besides sometimes drying which they all do.

All in all, there are no perfect lenses.

Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about these contact lenses. Have worn Biofinity for years…eye doctor recommended Total 30 as an option. Worst contact ever…dries eyes out after 4 or 5 hours…not able to wear all day. Switched back to Biofinity…sticking with Biofinity.

I just purchased a year’s worth of these contacts at the recommendation of my eye doctor. I’m still wearing the trial pair he gave me, so they’re only about a week old. About 4 days in, I started having foggy vision, especially around bright lights, where it looks like a foggy rainbow. I called my doctor’s office and they said they haven’t heard of this issue but will order me a new trial pair just in case I received a defective pair. Luckily, I haven’t opened any of the new boxes, so I can return/exchange them if the new trial pair does something similar.

Wow the comments/reviews for this new Total 30 contacts are quite negative. I’d still like to see and will review more feedback and later this year I will try to trial them. It’s quite surprising since Total Dailies 1 has overwhelming positive reviews for comfort & moisture and I would’ve thought the new Total 30 monthlies would be quite similar.

I’d also like to know for those who’ve tried Total 30 – have you also tried their Total Dailies 1 and how do they compare? Yes the Total Dailies 1 are tricky to remove at the end of the day – though I found them very comfortable & moist, they’re slippery to handle and feel more sticky to the eye and thus more challenging to remove at the end of the day.

Just want to confirm what many of the other reviews are saying! Just switched to these from Alcon Airoptix & am so disappointed (will be switching back) … these completely dry my eyes out after a few hours & are so uncomfortable and annoying.

I wish I would have read these reviews before purchasing these awful contacts! They were great for the first two weeks, then one day I woke up with dry, red, swollen eyes, I waited two weeks to let my eyes heals and tried again only wearing them for 1 hour. I woke up again with red bloodshot sore eyes! It’s been a nightmare!

NS

NS

I can’t relate with the other comments on these lenses. These have been comfortable for me and I can wear them fine all day. My eyes get a bit blurry by the end of the day, but my eyes get like that with all contacts, so it’s not unique to these contacts. I also no issues getting them out, and that’s with my eyes being on the drier side. If you want to give them a shot, I wouldn’t be deterred by the comments. Everyone’s eyes are different!

Jasmine

Jasmine

I had a terrible time with Acuvue drying my eyes out. Even Acuvue Oasis dried my eyes out. I thought maybe I just couldn’t tolerate contacts anymore. I told my eye doc and she gave me some Total 30 and it was a huge difference right away. They were comfortable the first day and I can still wear them all day with no problem. I don’t sleep in them but I’ve had no issues with them at all. Different strokes for different folks. If I had read these reviews first I never would have tried them but they seem to work better for my eyes than any others that I’ve tried.

Neha

Utterly garbage contacts. Please do not buy these. They were highly recommended by my doctor saying these are better than airoptix night and day. But there is a night and day difference between the two. When you open a new pair these are awesome for a few hours. Then they are useless- blurry, foggy vision, dry eyes after these, stick to the eyeball sand when I try to take them off, makes my eye red for hours. If I could get a refund or even an exchange with the night and day ones I would highly appreciate that.

Amy Pelletier

Wow, so glad I found these reviews because I thought it was just me! These contacts are terrible. They make my eyes hurt, are difficult to remove, very flimsy, and yes, dry out very quickly. I’ve worn contacts for over 25 years and I’m running back to my Acuvue Oasis!

Anika Harris

Anika Harris

I echo the sentiment of everyone. I am so disappointed because I wanted these to work so badly. I can’t wear them for more than 8 hours. By the end of the work day, and throughout, my eyes are dry and irritated. Extremely sad, but I have nothing good to say and Ive had contacts for over 30 years.

VP

I tried these new lenses based on the recommendation of my eye Dr. I gave it 2 weeks and I brought back the year supply that I purchased and asked for my old contacts back. These lenses were impossible to remove from my eye and my vision was blurry and dry. I’ve worn contacts for 15 years I could not for the life of me remove them from my eye. I had to go to the eye Dr to get them out. Never again!!!! I thought I was going crazy.

Brandi

Worst contact I have ever worn. Constantly have to rewet the lense, always feels dirty. Would not suggest at all. The thin fit is awesome but has gotten lost behind my eye too many times to count.

Nicole Jackson

Nicole Jackson

Worst lense I have ever worn, DRY eyes by lunch time, Spend more money on rewetting drops than what you save for these bobos. Like previous review stated, they stick to you eyeball. Wore my glasses more than I did my contacts with these things DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL

Jessica Taggett

I can’t get these off at the end of the day! I have been wearing contacts for 30 years and have never had this problem. Same solution I’ve used with other brands, I even switched. They are comfy, but get gritty in the evening. I won’t buy again.

Renee Rivera

Renee Rivera

I’ve worn contact lenses for 30 years and never had such problems as I’ve had with these contacts. They worked ok for about 2 weeks and then made my eyes extremely red, swollen and teary. Discontinued use, wore glasses and spent a week on corticosteroid eye drops. After my eyes healed, I decided to try them again, hoping it wasn’t the lenses (as I just purchased a years supply).. and the exact same thing happened. Definitely a thumbs down for these lenses! 😒

Jenna Stanley

Jenna Stanley

At first loved the fit. Very comfortable. Before end of day they feel dry and have to take them out. After trying multiple samples thinking something was wrong, it seems to compromise my eyes as very hard to get off, they really stick to your eye! After 40 years of wearing contacts I never had that problem. Eyes feel blurry and irritated after wearing them to a point I just used glasses to heal. Thought it was Clear Care solution and thought it was compromising the integrity of the contact material. After several days contacts feel old and like something was on them so switched solutions. Although they’re 30-day it seems like after a few days you want to get rid of them. Something is off with them, I don’t recommend.

Terrible experience for me so far. Lenses dry out VERY quickly. I’ve even tried switching to expensive multipurpose solution.
