Freshlook Contacts Are Being Discontinued

Update from 8/17/23:

Alcon, the manufacturer of Freshlook lenses, has announced they are discontinuing Freshlook Colorblends on September 29th, 2023. After that date, it will no longer be possible to order any Freshlook products. Be sure to stock up on lenses before that date.

Original post:

Recently, the contact lens manufacturer Alcon announced that they are discontinuing some of their popular Freshlook products on October 1st, 2022. We've got the full scoop for you below, including which colors are being discontinued and which brands you can switch to.

Which Freshlook Products are being discontinued?

There are three Freshlooks products being discontinued: Colors, Dimensions, and Handling Tint. Freshlook Colorblends is not being discontinued.

What is the difference between Freshlook Colorblends, Colors, Dimensions, and Handling Tint?

Freshlook Colorblends, Colors, and Dimensions are all color contact lenses that are made out of the same material. The only difference is the color options on each process. The Handling Tint lenses are made from the same material as other Freshlook lenses. They just aren't made with any color other than a slightl handling tint.

Why are Freshlook Colors being Discontinued?

Contact lenses have changed a lot since Freshlook was first introduced. There are newer contact lenses that let a lot more oxygen to your eye and are much more comfortable. Many customers have switched from the older Freshlook products to newer products. Since they are an older technology that not a lot of people are wearing, Alcon is discontinuing the less popular Freshlook products.

When are Freshlook Colors being Discontinued?

Freshlook Colors, Dimensions, and Handling Tint will be discontinued on October 1st, 2022. You can order as many boxes of these products as you want until that date. Starting October 1st, you will no longer be able to purchase Freshlook Colors, Dimensions, or Handling Tint

Switching to Freshlook Colorblends

Freshlook Colorblends Options

If you like the Freshlook material, you can switch to the Freshlook Colorblends product without getting a new prescription. Freshlook Colorblends comes in 12 different colors, so it has something for everyone. Alcon has said they won't be discontinuing Freshlook Colorblends for a while, so you should be safe making the switch to this product.

Switching to Air Optix Colors

Air Optix Colors options

If you want to try the newest color contacts technology, check out Air Optix Colors. These are monthly contact lenses that get much more oxygen to your eyes than Freshlook. In fact, these are the top selling color contact lens in the US.

Air Optix Colors has 12 great options to choose from. If you are curious what you would look like in any of the colors, check out Alcon's Color Studio. It allows you to see yourself with different color contacts to help pick the best option.

These are a different material than Freshlook, so you will need to get an updated prescription from your doctor to switch to this product.

Switching to Dailies Colors

Dailies Colors options

Dailies Colors are a brand new daily disposable color contact lens. Doctors prefer prescribing daily lenses because they are the healthiest option for most people. Since you wear them one day and then throw them out, there is a much lower chance of getting an eye infection. Another benefit of dailies is you don't need to worry about solution and contact lens cases.

Dailies Colors has 4 great options to choose from. If you are curious what you would look like in any of the colors, check out Alcon's Color Studio. It allows you to see yourself with different color contacts to help find the best color for you.

These are a different material than Freshlook, so you will need to get an updated prescription from your doctor to switch to this product.

Other Options

If you don't want to switch to any of the above products, you can also look at other products like Impressions Colors or Acuvue Define. Contact lenses are a medical device, so make sure to involve your doctor in the discussions so you can find the best option for you.

And in the meantime, feel free to stock up on Freshlook Colors, Freshlook Dimensions, or Freshlook Handling Tint before they are gone forever on October 1st!

Like many others stated, I was mortified when my optometrist told me freshlook colors blue were discontinued. I’ve been wearing these since the 90’s. What is our other options?

I have tried the Brilliant Blue and they are no where close to being like the Pacific Blue, don’t waste your money. So disappointed and not sure what to buy next. The Colorblend contact itself just felt awful and I won’t even use the rest of the box. My contacts are prescription, not just to enhance my eye color…we all need an update as to what were suppose to do.

I am so upset!!! I’ve used FL Dimensions Caribbean Aqua for 10+years. The FL Colorblend Turquoise are terrible!! Not the right color at all and very uncomfortable… I see shadow when I wear them. I have search so many places and cannot find them. My eyes were apart of my identity! If you were going to discontinue why not use the same colors but with a more oxygen friendly lens. Why did you change them all!? Bring back the Caribbean Aqua please! My children have never seen me with another color eye other than that one!

I’m so disappointed that the FL Dimensions were discontinued! I’ve worn the Pacific Blue for at least 15 years. The FL Colorblends Brilliant Blue makes me look like I have cat eyes, they’re terrible. I’m going to try the Air Optics but with many reviews I’ve read, those aren’t any better. At a loss since I depend on my contacts daily and have to change what I’m used to. Ugh

I have the same issue, has anyone found the color blends blue anywhere ? The new ones all look fake and are uncomfortable, if they don’t bring them back I know they will loose a lot of customers! I don’t like that black ring in all the new ones

I had a nervous breakdown when the Optom receptionist called me today to tell me the Violet freshlook has been changed to a new purple amethyst? 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ What an absolute waste of money as my eyes still look brown, that colour was my trademark and I always had endless complaints about them. Praying to God for a miracle whilst googling online for some similar? Reading all these comments shows me I’m not alone dealing with such outrage and disappointment. Will be praying for us all. #contactcolour #discontinuedoutrage #discussiongroup. Night night. Xx

Which brand and color are the closest to Freshlook Colors Blue? I tried different brands and none of them compare to this one. I have been wearing these for more than 20 years. I don’t feel like myself without them. I realize the new ones are better for my eyes but why can’t they be made in color blue as Fresh Look Color Blue? (The blends are not a good option, they are not aesthetically pleasing nor the optic air)

I am just do frustrated, had I known they were going to discontinue carribean Aqua, I would have bought 100 boxes. Now I can’t find anything even close. They need to being those colors back. Even for a period of time.

UGHHH. SO Frustrated. Fresh Look Dimensions are THE BEST! What’s a light eyed girl to do? I do not want some screen looking fake contacts. I just want my Green tinted color enhancement contacts BACK!

I have been wearing Freshlook Dimensions in Pacific Blue for 20 years. I am devastated that they have been discontinued. They have to come out with a replacement for colour enhancing light eyes. I am wearing my last pair and I don’t know what to do

I had been wearing Dimensions Pacific Blue for over a decade, I don’t feel ‘like myself’ without them. I didn’t even realise they were being discontinued until it was too late – why was this not better publicised through stockists and opticians? It’s comforting to see how many of us are affected. I’ve tried so far about 10 brands and NONE are close. Colour blends True Sapphire and Brilliant Blue are very opaque, Blue is not as vibrant, and Turquoise is as close as I can get to that lovely Pacific tint, but has streaks of lighter tones which break the desired depth up. B&L Softlens Colors were dreadful – so fake looking and pixelated. I’ve also tried several others from the big name brands and none, none at all, are close to the semi-sheer, semi-transparent deep tones of Dimensions. Many blue and green contacts are richly opaque to change brown eyes, but Dimensions were special because they were FOR light eyes to enhance only. We don’t want to look like dolls. I have no idea what to do and I’ve wasted so much money looking for alternatives. Petition?? Maybe an optician somewhere has old stock??

Same issue.. I loved my freshlook dimensions Caribbean aqua . Tried air optix color isn’t as good but seems doable(eith it being non prescription , then I ordered prescription ones . I got the air optix. put them on and my vision was hazy like a foggy window or dirty lenses. So disappointing I have to go from scratch again and look for color contacts. I just don’t feel like me without greenish blue vibrant color contacts. I’m naturally bright blue .suggestions on where to go from here???
Frustrating looking for contacts to replace what was perfectly working already.

I’m so disappointed! I’ve worn Freshlook colors in Hazel for over 2o years, and they’ve been discontinued. Freshlook colorblends Pure hazel is so dark and fake looking. I’ve been trying other colors and manufacturers without any success. Does anyone have suggestions or know of a color that’s close?

Which color in lens and color would be closest to Freshlook Colors Blue, I’ve tried Freshlook Colorblends Brilliant Blue, Sapphire Blue and Blue, none of them are even close, they are all to dark, is there a lighter Blue in that lens or in any other? How about Sterling gray?

Jean

Jean

I am in the exact same position. What did you end up doing? I didn’t know you can order just one lens. I ordered Brilliant Blue but feel they are a tad too colorful, esp. In natural and fluorescent lighting.

Ive worn freshlook for 20 years. I tried to buy my usual Freshlook contacts but my optometrist ordered AirOptix instead. They are absolutely horrible! They scratch my corneas and cause red eye. I only wore them a month and can’t wear them for more than three days without some red eye dry eye light sensitivity issue. I constantly have to wear glasses and my eyes are too sensitive to light suddenly to drive. I am literally visually disabled. Please do not discontinue colorblends. I will have to just get LASIK as I can’t function this way!

I have been wearing Caribbean aqua fresh looks they are now discontinued. What would be an alternate product color

Dr. Micki Kloss

Dr. Micki Kloss

I have worn contacts for probably 20 years as I wearing glasses tend to make me dizzy. I loved the Freshlook Dimensions in Sea Green and never had so many compliments on my already green eyes. Also, the Dimensions seem to be a heavier product with no difficulty seeing the contact in the container and no problem with them tearing, seeing the color in the container or finding a lost or dropped lens. The first day with the new lens it actually tore in my eye and so did 2 more lens in two weeks. Is the substitute a lighter fabric so to speak. I am so disappointed with all of these changes.

Shauna

I have the same question as Janelle. I’ve been wearing Dimensions Pacific Blue for many years as well. Which of the new color contacts would be the closest to Pacific Blue? Can we order a pair to try before committing?

Sherri

I have been wearing your Caribbean Aqua for years and I’m extremely disappointed that I can’t get them any longer I tried all the colors that you have to be close to matching that and none of them look good on me.

Janelle Bengali

Janelle Bengali

I have been wearing Fresh Look Dimensions Pacific Blue for many years, and just learned they have been discontinued. I looked at your other colored contacts. Would Brillant Blue or True Sapphire be closer to the Pacific Blue? Also can I order a pair of each to try them out before I order a whole box?
